Market and promote the town centre to shoppers, visitors and potential investors, developing a shared positive image.
Achievements
A
A new Town Centre Events & Promotions Coordinator was appointed in June 2007.
B
Christmas promotional activity 2006 & 7 was funded and managed by Mansfield Town Centre Partnership, including an 8-page brochure, distributed locally.
C
Christmas lights 2006 & 2007 - around 80 little trees and lights above shops were sold, plus additional sponsors obtained, for better lighting displays.
D
Christmas lights Switch-on Events 2006 & 2007 – planning and management of events attended by around 20,000 local people.

Christmas late night Thursday shopping – 6 events organised in Nov & Dec 2007.

‘Summer in the Streets’, nine weeks of live outdoor entertainment in the town centre and Titchfield Park was supported with publicity and event management in 2006 & 2007. Includes Schools in the Streets.

New events promotional banners were funded Summer 2007.

Automated pedestrian footfall counters were funded and managed.

Town Centre satisfaction questions were included in the District Council’s June 2006 & 2007 Citizens Panel survey to 1000 local residents.

Mansfield achieved national and regional awards including the following:
- British Council of Shopping Centres - Town Centre Environment Gold Award Nov 2006.
- Association of Town Centre Management & East Midlands Development Agency regional best practice awards Dec 2006 - Creating Quality Environments - Highly Commended. and local and national publicity for these was coordinated.

Funding was provided to support the Launch of the new town centre Heritage Trail, and some of the bronze plaques.

Presentations about the work of the partnership were made to local organisations including Mansfield 2020 and Mansfield Area Strategic Partnership.

The Mansfield Town Centre Partnership website was redesigned and updated.

A successful Sunday trading campaign and competition was managed, with £700 giveaway from participating stores and 3 weeks of advertising prior to events, with live radio prize draw Sept 2007 and Feb 2008.

Independent research data about Mansfield town centre was funded and circulated to partners.

A Chewing gum promotional campaign was funded and managed Sept 2007.
Current Projects

Q
Manage year-round programme of events including Summer and Christmas events programmes, including entertainment schedule, events equipment, funding, organisation, and promotion.

Continue liaison with press and media to ensure promotional opportunities are maximised.

Submit bids to external funding bodies to support town centre projects.

Develop guidelines for better appearance of vacant premises, encourage property owners to adopt guidelines, and find funding for resources to improve the appearance of vacant property.

Continue support for joint marketing of town centre shopping, food & drink outlets, and leisure attractions, including updating the Town Centre Map & Guide.

Co-ordinate image enhancements andd branding of the town centre both locally and nationally.

Continue promotion of regular Sunday trading in the town centre.

Support the effective distribution of ‘Mansfield’ promotional leaflets across the local region, and maintain the two ‘Whats On’ poster points in the town centre.

Identify improvements to town centre visitor information and management, including signage, leaflets, and ‘first impressions’.

Continue promotional support for markets, including Farmers and Speciality markets.
