Mansfield welcomes the Torch

  Thousands turned out in the Mansfield Town centre to watch as the Olympic Torch convoy made its momentous journey through our town, from West Gate through the Market Place, onto Church Street and finally Bridge Street. Flags were handed out to the crowds as they began to gather along the Torch route from around 10 o’clock this morning. Despite a torrential downpour their spirits weren’t dampened on this special once in a lifetime occasion. Wear Olympic Colours!

  When the Olympic Torch comes to Mansfield, people are being encouraged to dress in Olympic colours when they come to line the route on 28 June. Mansfield Business Improvement District (BID) will be handing out spot prizes to those in the town centre dressed in blue, yellow, black, green and red. The competition has been supported by Mansfield District Council. Prizes include various gift vouchers to be used in Mansfield Town and I Love Mansfield goodie bags. Hey Good Looking, what you got cooking!

  Hundreds of people came along to the Jubilee Food Fair Bank holiday on Tuesday, 5th June. The event organised by the Mansfield BID on behalf of the town centre businesses kicked off at 10.30am with a range of food stalls giving tasters and samples of their produce. Local chefs took part in live cookery demonstrations and over 250 children decorated their own cookies and made badges to take home. BID manager's Special Day

  Sarah Newton, BID manager gets married on Saturday 19th May 2012 to her fiance Dave Nelson. Sarah, who goes on leave today will take a short mini-moon to Rome after the wedding. Due to Daves work committments and involvement in the Olympic Games, the big honeymoon will be taken in September when the couple fly off to Brazil for two weeks. 'Pop Up Shop' is launched!

  The first retail incubation unit or what is affectionately know as a ‘pop up shop’ was launched in Mansfield Town Centre on Thursday 26th April. It is a joint initiative between MDC and Mansfield BID and being project managed by the BID. For a small contribution towards utilities we are giving the chance for potential new businesses to have part of the shop space to experience trading in a town centre retail environment.
