From Saturday helpers, to a cut above

When Saturday boy Paul Sanderson started sweeping up hair off the floor at a barbers shop in Mansfield, he enjoyed the tasks he was given, and the fact he was earning a few pennies.   Fast forward 40 years and thousands of haircuts, and Paul has now owned the shop, Campions, in Church Street, since 2000. He has eight people who work at the premises, including Jo Parkes (36), who is also celebrating a milestone.   Jo, a mum of two, also started at the shop as a Saturday helper. Thousands flock to celebrate Mansfield's Armed Forces Day

Thousands of people of all ages enjoyed live music, vehicle displays and a Dakota flypast in the sunshine at Mansfield’s Armed Forces Day event on Sunday. Organised by Mansfield Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Mansfield District Council, and with additional funding from the Ministry of Defence, it was part of a national weekend of events up and down the country to recognise the Armed Forces.
