MANSFIELD GOES FOR GOLD IN THE GREAT BRITISH HIGH STREET COMPETITION

Mansfield in Nottinghamshire is in the running to win up to £10,000 in prize money as part of a nationwide search for Britain’s best high streets. Although there is 3 weeks to go until applications close, Mansfield is one of the first areas off the starting block to apply for the town centre category. Mansfield is among the first fifty applicants in the national celebration of individual communities’ efforts to revitalise their local areas. Mansfield’s Purple Flag event goes for gold in national High Street awards

A colourful initiative that helped celebrate Mansfield’s Purple Flag accreditation could itself win a prestigious national award.   In 2014, Mansfield was awarded Purple Flag status, a national endorsement of its work to create a vibrant, and safe, nighttime and evening economy.   The partners involved in getting the status included Mansfield BID, the district and county councils, Nottinghamshire Police, Healthy High Street businesses, the Mansfield Alcohol Licensed Venues group, and volunteers.   To celebrate, the partners worked on the Painting Mansfield Purple evening, which was a day of events in April 2015 to spread the word about Purple Flag. &...

RAF Flypast times released!

The Mansfield BID team are very excited to find out that the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial flypast past will take place on both days at this year’s Garden & Craft Festival.   Sue Rogers , event organiser at Mansfield BID says “This year is a special year for The Trustees for the Allotments for the Labouring Poor who commission the garden & craft festival, as they celebrate 100 years of looking after the charity and providing allotments. THE INSPECTORS CALLED!

A police briefing, the leisure park, the CCTV control room and several town centre premises were among Mansfield locations visited by Purple Flag assessors on Saturday (August 6) night. The inspectors, one of whom came from Bromley in Kent and the other from North West Leicestershire, were working on behalf of the Association of Town Centre Management.   Their observations and report on evidence provided by the Purple Flag steering group will be considered with a lengthy application form submitted in June to determine if Mansfield retains its Purple Flag (PF) status.   Saturday night’s inspection saw the assessors ...
