New deli offers a taste of something new

Posted On: 24/08/2015 10:51:00

Charcoal-coloured cheese, Skegness cheese, meats, chutneys, pâté, salads, and more - that’s what’s available at Mansfield newest shop, The Deli @ No 3, in Toothill Lane.

The deli has been launched by brothers Jamie and Jason Roberts, and they are assisted by mum Margaret and Jamie’s wife, Michelle.

The shop has only been open a week and has already proved to be popular.

Jamie said: “I’ve worked in the food sector, in companies that supply the supermarkets, but I wanted to do something for myself.

“We just want to provide a service that Mansfield people deserve. We don’t think there is another deli like ours in the town so we think we have spotted a gap in the market.”

Among the foods on offer are Skegness Blue cheese, a vegetarian Parmesan-style cheese, chili jams, white truffle and wild boar pâté, a selection of chutneys, and a unique black cheese from Yorkshire.

Jamie added: “We’re trying to do something a bit different and hope that people realise there is so much on offer in Mansfield.”

Despite not having been in the forces, the shop is also offering a 10 per cent discount to serving members of the armed forces, the police and the NHS.

Stephen Gregory, co-owner of the nearby Shiny Spoon cafe, which is just celebrating a year of trading, said: “It’s great to have yet another unique shop in town and we wish them luck in their venture.”

Sarah Nelson, manager of Mansfield Business Improvement District, said: “Jamie and his family seem to have found a gap in the market and are adding something new. There’s so much Mansfield has to offer to shoppers and those who like fine foods.”
